Animal Reincarnation and Your Pet

Posted on March 2, 2024

Losing a pet can be a heartbreaking experience. You may be someone who chooses to get a new pet right away; while you can’t replace your old pet, it does make you feel better. Or you may choose not to get another pet because the loss is too much to bear.  Sometimes, a new pet comes into your life unexpectedly.

Clients often ask if they did enough to help prolong their pet’s life? Does the pet realize how much it is loved and missed? Pets are full of unconditional love, so the care and love you provide is never questioned. If the pet is inclined to appear during a psychic reading, they usually show they are happy and healthy.

Will My Pet Come Back to Me?

Animal reincarnation is a popular topic. If you enter a query on the search engine Bing, you will receive 340,000 results immediately.  Those that practice Hinduism, Buddhism, and Sikhism believe animals reincarnate. Some Native American tribes hold the belief that “animals have souls and are connected to the one great universal force.”

While a number of psychics believe animals do reincarnate, there are questions around whether the same pet returns to its original family or joins a new family. The pet may need to move on to help someone new. Other times, the pet may become a guardian angel for you.

“Sometimes a reincarnated pet will look remarkably like its previous self, and sometimes not. They will show some kind of evidence, however, that confirms that sense of “knowing.” For instance, they’ll settle in unusually fast, have similar habits or other behavioral clues.” – New York Daily News

Other times, pets may come to us in our dreams. They may show us they are present in spirit form. Either way, it’s always great to see them!

When Deceased Pets Visit You from the Other Side

Pet Psychic Danielle MacKinnon says there are six signs you can look for to determine if your pet is visiting you.

  • You may see the pet’s name in print
  • You may smell your pet
  • You may hear a dog’s bark or a cat’s meow or toenails striking the floor
  • A special memory of your pet may pop in your head
  • You may see the pet in your peripheral vision
  • You may dream of the pet

To seek out our deceased pets and connect with them, Ms. MacKinnon suggests we raise our love vibration to a higher level. As pets are full of unconditional love, we need to reflect that feeling. Beliefnet.com suggests pets will reach out to us through our dreams, or by using familiar noises or repetitive images.

A lab named Glen once visited his dog mom in spirit form. She knew it was him because she saw the door open. She reached down where he would normally come for a pat and she felt his fur at that moment, she said. Madie’s dog mom found her collar tucked under the covers, where the dog would have tucked a bone. Maureen missed her dog Yabba, so she placed his ball on the floor and asked for him to roll the ball. She was amazed when the ball rolled across the floor by itself!

There’s another story about a lab named Rina. Her family chose another lab they named Cori. The family is convinced the dog came back to them. Rina’s dog mom saw signs shortly after Rina passed away that she would stay connected. Check out the family’s video: https://www.surfdogricochet.com/reincarnation-in-pets.html

Sometimes when I am relaxing on my bed, I feel movement. That’s when I know it’s my old cat Pretty Girl coming by to say hello. Intuitively, I see my little dog Loco twirling in circles. I may feel the sensation of him sitting by my feet as I am conducting a reading. He even attended a presentation with me and twirled around in front of the speaker. However, the speaker chose not to notice.

Oftentimes, a deceased pet may show up to help you in a tense situation.

“Guardian Angels: Certain tales narrate instances where a deceased dog’s spirit intervenes in times of distress or danger, acting as a protective sentinel over their humans.” – FluffyTamer.com

How Will I Know It’s My Pet Who Has Returned?

Karen A. Anderson, author of the Amazing Afterlife of Animals believes pets reincarnate about 3 to 5 years after they leave us. Rachel Webb says pets may return as another species, another sex, even another breed.

For some pets, their mission in this world is complete, and they do not return. While it’s not easy to accept the loss of a pet, we can learn to keep their memories alive by connecting with them through our dreams and through meditation, says Margrit Coates, in her book, Communicating with Animals: How to Tune into Them Intuitively.

“Animal messengers travel through the dimensions of time and space to be with us. We do not have any control over this process and cannot make it happen, but when the meeting does take place, we are invited to enjoy every second of it.”
